Liberact IV: Converge & Create

From 31 October to 1 November, ViseR hosted “Liberact”, an Australian first for the international conference. Centred at The Cube at QUT, the event brought together thinkers, leaders, creators, and builders of digital interactive experiences in public, corporate, and academic spaces worldwide. The fourth year for the event focused discussions on design, development, and management of digital spaces and content using next-generation digital AV, IT, and smart building technology.

The event featured plenary presentations, and for the first time, a Technology Hall with vendors and end-users staging demonstrations of the next generation virtual reality, holographic computing, and large-scale digital displays. The event inspired and challenged delegates to imagine how high-impact, memorable experiences can be delivered to an ever growing market of highly expectant digital natives.

As part of this event, ViseR in partnership with Deloitte Digital, developed the interactive showpiece, “Surfaces”. The presentation combined projection mapping onto QUT’s Old Government House, with laser tracking and floor projection to create a spectacular and unique interactive visualisation.

“Surfaces” is a vehicle for QUT to develop in-house expertise in projection mapping, computer vision systems, and interactive content development. The project will continue through 2017-18, and expand to include content portraying the history of the Gardens Point campus, and ‘bring your own device’ features to engage our many students and visitors to campus everyday.
