Senior Living Innovation
The IFE Visualisation and eResearch team (ViseR), in partnership with QUT’s Senior Living Innovation and Frontier Networks developed a landmark virtual reality experience, showcased at the 2015 National Retirement Living Summit, held at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane.
ViseR developed a standalone application for the Samsung GearVR device to promote three key messages of next-generation senior living technology and services:
- Embedding technology within building and environments
- Technology as a facilitator for community engagement and participation (with family, activities or work/study)
- Technology supporting everyday activities/living (personal engagement with health, home or routine daily activities)
This project promotes the value of technology as an enabler of an active, engaged, and participatory lifestyle aimed at older people, and describes the potential of integrated technologies from those installed in the fabric of a dwelling through personal interaction with one’s own health conditions.
